Jennifer McCord, Ph.D.
Dr. McCord is from Florida and obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.

After her postdoc in the Lowell Lab, Jen currently works for the Food and Drug Administration.

Jacob Chappell

Jacob Chappell
Jacob earned his BS in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Jacob is interested in chemoenzymatic synthesis of natural products.

With his MS, Jacob is working as an adjunct professor at Virginia Western Community College.

Austin Lowry

Austin Lowry
Austin earned his BS in Chemistry at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Austin has an interest in how antibiotics are developed. He likes his reactions shaken, not stirred.

With his MS, Austin works for Circ Earth.

Cole Gannett

Cole Gannett
Cole obtained his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Oregon. After graduation, he worked at Tricol Biomedical, Inc. for six years. His work focused on semi-synthetic modification of antibiotics, especially blasticidin S. Cole is the oldest member of the lab and possibly in the world, who knows???

With his PhD, Cole is working for Xiresta Pharmaceuticals in Santa Barbara, CA.

Max Rivers

Max Rivers
Max graduated from the University of Lynchburg. He is a special polymath, one of the few organic chemists to take quantum mechanics and like it.

Max is still in Blacksburg, and with his Master’s, is scouting other graduate schools.

Zak Kohanov

Zak Kohanov
Zak earned a B.A. in Chemistry at Albion College. Zak enjoys finding new ways to make secondary metabolites for natural products. He is the Lowell Lab Bird Law Specialist.

Zak has relocated to Ohio, supporting his wife during her residency and is actively looking for jobs. Reach him at zkohanov@gmail.com for a talented synthetic chemist.

Logan Breiner

Logan Breiner
Logan obtained his BS in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He work focused on the semi-synthetic modification of antibiotics.

With his PhD, Logan is working at his dream job at Raybow near his ancestral home in Transylvania County NC.
